Soon six Rwandan's, five riders and Vedaste the Team Liason, will leave the heart of Africa and arrive here to race on American soil. Passports, visas, media, professional racing all new to this team now only two months into existence. What was before a matter of simple economic necessity, "bicycling".... is now a platform on a world stage where these young men of Rwanda can say "Here we are...We are ready"

Word is spreading about this new "Team Rwanda", the first ever national Rwandan cycling team. Support from donations and the enthusiasm of the riders will lead them to Silver City, New Mexico, where they will start a 5 day stage race "Tour of Gila" May 3-6, as well as some other American races. They return home to race the Tour of Rwanda on June 19th, and later the African Games.
