Cycling stats: Nathan is quick and exuberant; he started riding a bike as a taxi-biker in 1997. In 2002, he began racing on a single speed. His friend Myaka lent him a used, 5-speed Eddy Merckx that he rode until he received the bike supplied by Team Rwanda this year.

Aspirations: This has been his first chance to train and perform on a larger circuit than he has been used to. The training is a lot harder and the racing much harder than he had ever expected but it has not dampened his motivation to make cycling his profession.

Personal: Family includes his mother, two brothers and three sisters. Lost his father in the genocide.
